Blogger Exercise #4

1 Do you think it's possible to get sued for linking to someone else's site? Why or why not?
Yes….because you can violate or taking advantage of the page, linking to only what you want to link

2 Run a search on Google for "deep linking legal" (without the quotes).

3 Define deep linking, and explain why it is controversial.
When people link to websites, they often do not link to the homepage. Instead they link to the sub-page that contains the information they want to link to. This practice, of linking to a sub-page deep within a website, is called “deep linking.” What is not generally known is that there is some doubt as to the legality of deep linking, and some recent court decisions suggest that deep linking might be impermissible in some cases. This essay will discuss the existing law on deep linking and its implications for future developments.

4 What is "framing"? (Search for "framing legal")
Framing
A frame is a window on a website through which pages from another website can be viewed. In the early days of the Web, sites showed pages from other sites as a draw for visitors. The technology allows one website operator to use intellectual property owned by another entity to sell banner advertising on its on site. Although there has yet to be a U.S. court decision on this issue, in 1997 the Washington Post filed suit against online news site Total News for framing news items contained on the Post's site. Total News settled the case by agreeing to link to, rather than frame, the Post's Web pages.

5 What is a "cease and desist" letter? (Search for "cease and desist")
Is a letter send by a person whom has the copyrights for something to an other person that is stealing the work

6 What would you do if you recieved a "cease and dissest" letter?
cease

It seems to me that you are worrying about this a bit too much. Perhaps you should just delete any questionable content or links and be done with it. That's what I'd do.
